Yale University Woodbridge Hall

Situated in Hewitt Quadrangle, this historic Beaux Arts building lies in the heart of Yale University’s campus. Constructed in 1901, it is sited across an open plaza from the iconic Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library. For much of its life, Woodbridge Hall served as the office of the University President. To make the historic building entrance accessible, the existing limestone and granite stairs were moved away from the building to accommodate the insertion of a new, low-profile granite walkway. The relocated stairs and the new sloped walkway are designed to look like nothing has changed. DBVW also developed construction documents for interior accessibility upgrades, including addition of an elevator and accessible restrooms.
