Sunset Terrace

DBVW Architects designed a new residence on a spectacular waterfront site that slopes considerably from west to east. To take advantage of the slope and break down the scale of this large residence, the first floor steps down the site towards the water. The L-shaped plan of the main house, together with a small cabana, create an intimate outdoor space for an infinity pool. From the street, the architectural vocabulary is fairly traditional, but as one progresses towards the water, the architectural design becomes much more open and single-sloped roofs on the master bedroom wing and cabana create a sense of drama from the water. On the first floor or the main house, the living and dining rooms spill out onto terraces through multiple folding doors that bring the outside in and the inside out.
