Salve Regina University Papitto Pavilion
DBVW Architects was asked by Salve Regina University to design a flexible new space to accommodate lectures, gatherings, and campus events. Located in a former sunken garden to the south of Wakehurst Mansion (now Gerety Hall), the new building is designed to suggest a garden pavilion nestled into the landscape. The building features multiple arched window and door openings and a bracketed cornice to suggest a greenhouse-type architectural vocabulary. Support spaces are located in a simple, flat-roofed section of the building that is tucked into the hillside. Formal gardens will embrace the building to further strengthen the feeling of a garden pavilion.

Martha is a nationally-recognized expert in the field of historic preservation. She has directed multiple phases of important preservation projects at some of New England’s most treasured landmark buildings. Martha is an appointed member of the RI Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission Review Board, serves on the Providence Downtown Design Review Committee, and is a past-President of AIA/Rhode Island. When Martha is not climbing up steeples or through abandoned buildings, she can be found playing tennis or kayaking on Narragansett Bay.
