North Kingstown Public Safety Complex

The North Kingstown Police Department has over 50 sworn members and is divided into four squads of six officers and two supervisors. The North Kingstown Communications Division is staffed by two public safety telecommunicators who handle calls for the police and fire departments, as well as the water department after hours. Following a comprehensive spatial needs assessment, it was determined that a 50,000-sf facility was required to replace the Town’s aging facility. The DBVW/ADG team prepared various conceptual design options for how the new facility could fit on the site of the existing public safety complex as well as on an optional Town-owned site. The work included the preparation of narratives describing, site work and building systems, including MEP/FP, audiovisual, communications and security. An estimate of the probable cost for constructing the preferred option completed the study. Now the team continues to assist the town with designing two separate facilities to meet the town’s public safety needs -- the Quonset Police Station and the Wickford Fire Station.
