North Kingstown Public Safety Complex

The town’s existing public safety complex was first constructed in the 1950s and expanded over multiple renovations. Deemed functionally deficient, the town engaged DBVW in partnership Architects Design Group to work closely with public safety officials to create appropriate facilities. Following an extensive space needs assessment and review of options, including renovation, it was determined that constructing new facilities was the most prudent approach. Due to limitations of the existing site and following an unsuccessful search for one large new site, the program was divided into two separate facilities. The new public safety complex will serve the police department’s more than 50 sworn members as well as the town’s communications division, which handles calls for both the police and fire departments. The new two-story, 30,500 sf design includes an emergency operations center, training space, holding area and drive-through sallyport. Construction is scheduled to commence in September 2026.
