Mary Baker Eddy Historic House
DBVW provided construction administration and design services for a comprehensive restoration of the Mary Baker Eddy Historic House property, which included the main residence, carriage house, gate house, landscape, and site features. Work spanned the interior and exterior of the buildings. Over a hundred windows were restored and reinstalled, the stone and brick masonry was repointed, and a slate roof, gutters, and downspouts were replaced to match the originals. On the inside, light and plumbing fixtures were restored as well as a historic elevator, which was also extended to the basement to make the main house fully accessible.
Show More +DBVW had a very nice balance of respecting the principles of historic preservation, but tempered with what was a cost-effective and practical solution.
