King Street Commons
DBVW Architects worked closely with One Neighborhood Builders on the design of King Street Commons, a new affordable housing development on neighboring vacant lots. The first site is comprised of 26 new townhouses, centralized laundry and property management offices with a 24.7 kw photovoltaic array. The second features four residential units and a new 8,645 sf daycare facility. The daycare, which has three Pre-K classrooms, two infant/toddler classrooms, and an outdoor playground area, is operated by the Rhode Island-based non-profit Children’s Friend. The project uses Low Income Housing Tax Credits. Construction began in winter 2020 and was completed in summer 2021.

Karissa has been an important member of the DBVW team for over fifteen years and has worked on numerous project types. She is a leader in both our multifamily residential and schools practices. With her experience working with non-profit housing developers to create affordable and market rate multi-family developments and helping school departments to reimagine their educational facilities, Karissa is often a go to team leader for these types of projects. When she joined the firm in 2006, her first assignment was working on the design of DBVW’s new offices; not an easy task when you consider the “client” was 30 architects and designers. Karissa’s known by clients for her dedication to each project, friendly attitude, and excellent communication skills.
