Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul
The Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul was designed by Patrick C. Keeley and completed in 1889. Beginning in 2018, DBVW performed detailed assessments of the slate shingle roof and the two 156-foot brownstone masonry towers and developed construction documents. DBVW provided Construction Administration for a comprehensive in-kind replacement of the slate shingle roofing, which was completed in 2020, and completed a careful repair campaign in 2022 at the masonry towers to extend their useful service lives.

With his passion for historic preservation and technical expertise, Pierson has led many of DBVW’s most important and complex preservation projects. His depth of knowledge and attention to detail make Pierson the ideal candidate to take any preservation project from typical to noteworthy. He is currently leading multiple project teams at Yale University, as well as Rough Point Museum in Newport, RI and the Cathedral of Saints Peter & Paul in Providence, RI. He is an active member of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Northeast Chapter of the Association for Preservation Technology and serves on multiple committees for the Providence Preservation Society. As an alumnus, Pierson has been a longtime columnist for a popular Virginia Tech sports website. Outside the office, you can find him enjoying the outdoors and exploring New England with his wife and young sons.
