DBVW worked closely with Brookline Bancorp to design a new branch location for Bank RI located in the historic Bellevue Gardens Shopping Center in Newport, RI. The space takes queues from Newport’s rich history of sailing and ship building. Entering into the main lobby, the ceiling of the teller line is reminiscent of the hull of a ship, drawing you into the space. The owner and design team worked with local artists to create custom digital wall coverings of painted scenes of Narragansett bay in action. Walnut finishes and white ship lap boards blend the new design of the interior with the historic Newport neighborhood outside. From the welcoming outer lobby, to the teller counters and conference rooms, every detail is carefully considered and reinforces a strong sense of design throughout the space.

Sean has been with DBVW Architects for nearly 20 years. His laser-like focus on design detail and solid team management skills make him a natural leader and have earned him success with many of DBVW’s most complex projects. Sean’s experience ranges from higher education to multifamily housing to cultural to commercial design. No matter the project type, Sean’s clients can depend on him to manage the quality, schedule and budget to exacting standards. Sean is on the Board at Trinity Repertory Company and has served on several committees at The Gordon School. He enjoys time outside the office with his wife (who is also an architect) and son.
