BankNewport

DBVW worked with BankNewport to renovate and restore their flagship branch on Washington Square in Newport, RI, originally constructed from 1929-1930. The goal of the project was to restore the facility to its original historic grandeur while also creating a more user-friendly and operationally efficient space; ushering the building into the modern era while celebrating its history. Exterior work included masonry restoration, roof replacement, and the addition of historically respectful accessibility upgrades. An ATM enclosure and drive-through were replaced with new canopies that are compatible with the early twentieth-century architecture of the building, while still providing ease of use. The banking hall was fully restored by removing later alterations to the space, preserving original features including an ornate vaulted ceiling, and locating personal bankers in front of the original bronze teller windows, which were preserved as a back-drop.
