Locally Sourced: Farm Fresh RI Food Hub is Gearing Up

Design is underway for the Farm Fresh RI Food Hub, a new building to be constructed in Providence’s Valley neighborhood along the Woonosquatucket River. This 60,000 square-foot facility will house Farm Fresh RI operations with space for administration, shipping, food production, and a year-round farmer’s market. The Food Hub will also provide flexible tenant spaces for RI-oriented food and agricultural business co-locators. To promote sustainability and good stewardship on a former industrial brownfield, the site will feature a large roof-top photovoltaic system, thoughtful storm-water management, and water and thermal heat harvesting.
