Description
DBVW Architects, a 38-person firm in Providence, RI, is seeking a Controller / Financial Manager. Primary responsibilities include managing project accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll functions, and preparing internal financial reports.
The Controller / Financial Manager reports directly to the Principals and will be responsible for providing oversight for all financial and accounting activities of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions.
- Monitor and manage cash flow.
- Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of entries.
- Work with company’s accounting firm during their production of financial statements.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Collaborate with Principals, Shareholders and Architects.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Coordinate and work with outside auditors and tax accountants.
- Maintain accurate records to meet regulatory and legal requirements.
- Oversee 401(k) administration.
- Assist with health and professional insurance renewals.
- Communicate and coordinate with financial institution/bank regarding cash accounts
Strategic Support/Financial Analysis
- Perform weekly and monthly financial reporting on, work in progress, forecasting and analysis.
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and analysis as needed.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial systems, processes, and controls.
- Work with outside Human Resources Consultant regarding policies, procedures and programs.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- At least 6 years of accounting/finance experience, with 3 years in a management role/level, professional services a plus.
- Proficiency in ERP accounting software and Microsoft Office, Excel.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards and regulations.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. · Strong time management and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy.
Candidates should have at least 6 years of accounting/finance experience, with 3 years in a management role.
