Paragon Mill
This project involved the rehabilitation of a 115,000 sf historic mill complex located in Providence’s historic Woonasquatucket River Corridor. The renovated complex includes 101 residential units used as a mix of market-rate and affordable rentals. In addition to residential units, the complex includes 2,800 sf of commercial space as well as indoor and outdoor community spaces. The complex, once known as the Earnscliffe Woolen Company, dates back to the late 19th century. It was under ownership of the Paragon Worsted Company from 1909 until the company ceased operations in the early 1960s and remained vacant. DBVW worked to restore this iconic piece of the Olneyville neighborhood’s history for almost 15 years, beginning with a historic tax credit application in 2007.

Since co-founding the firm in 1994, Doug has been working closely with both public and private-sector clients to help create responsible, forward thinking development in cities and towns throughout the Northeast. Doug’s experience with historic, low income, and new market tax credits has helped numerous important projects move forward and has solidified many long-term client relationships. His love of fishing consumes a great deal of his free time, as do his three sons, and you will often find them together on Narragansett Bay chasing striped bass.
