DBVW Architects was hired by the City of Taunton to provide an evaluation and perform design services for their historic City Hall. The original Gothic-style brick building was constructed in 1848. In 1896, local officials decided to construct a Renaissance revival addition to the front of the existing building. In August of 2010 a fire occurred, and the subsequent smoke and water damage forced the temporary abandonment of the building and the relocation of City offices to other locations. In 2012, the City hired DBVW Architects to perform an evaluation of the historic structure and to develop a feasibility study for its re-use and/or modification. Services will include preparation of schematic and design development documents for a preferred scheme, following the exploration of several reuse options.
