Moses Brown Lower School

DBVW Architects worked with the Moses Brown School to renovate their Lower School Facilities. This project consisted of a combined 20,000 sf of space, which included the existing Lower School building and the adjacent transformed historic boiler house. The two buildings were connected by a new exterior covered walkway to create a brand new main entrance. The Lower School provides nursery school through fourth grade students with blended science, technology, language, music, and art spaces designed to stimulate critical thinking and encourage creativity. The new Learning Commons, located within the former boiler house, was designed to serve as a library and can accommodate gatherings of the entire Lower School community. The Wonder Lab is a place for the students to explore creative thought and curiosities through art, water play, sand, or play structures. In addition, the Nutrition Lab emphasizes the importance of healthy eating and teaching student how to prepare simple healthy recipes.
